Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship
Available to students in the top 50% of their class with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Grant amount may vary.
The Rotary “Service Above Self Scholarship” is for those Door County 2025 graduating seniors seeking a four year Bachelor's degree and who make significant contributions to their community by serving others. The scholarships awarded will range from $1000 to $2000
The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self."
The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay believes high school students can best prepare themselves for lives of service through excellence in academics and through dedication to finding and undertaking ways to develop leadership and serve others in our community. In recognition of this we are proud to provide a “Service Above Self" scholarship to those students who exemplify this through their academic success and their contributions to others in the community. It is intended for those who are seeking higher education leading to a four year Bachelor’s degree.
Students applying for this scholarship should be able to describe the service work they have performed for their school, church, or wider community and should be able to articulate in depth through an essay how that work has impacted them personally, how it has improved the lives of the recipients of that service, and why they feel “Service Above Self” is important. NOTE: Once the GPA/class rank minimum threshold has been met, academic performance no longer factors into the scholarship decisions. All students will be evaluated on their service to others as described in the application and their essay.
